Joe and I will be having our wedding ceremony and reception at Memae's house.
I'm heading out to Memae's with my camera tomorrow to take pictures. I'll post them here tomorrow along with descriptions of what I plan to do.
Here are the reasons we decided on Memae's instead of the coast.
1. We can set things up where and when we want to, without having to pay any money to use the land.
2. We don't have a limit to how late we can play music.
3. I can set up white christmas lights and japanese lanterns and candles and any other kind of lights anywhere I want to.
4. We can invite more people*
5. Joe, me and our wedding party can get ready for the ceremony and reception inside Memaes house.
6. Great Grammy can come to the wedding.
7. I'm a really anxious/nervous person, and having the wedding at a place I am already comfortable in is more of a relief to me than I realized.
8. We can base our wedding date on what day will be best for a night wedding instead of what date would give us a cheaper reception. (Most inns have reasonable prices before May 15th, and then they jack everything up for the rest of the summer.) We can have our wedding day be in June or July, when it is warmer at night. I'll just have to pay attention to when the mosquitoes are at a minimum and plan the date accordingly.
So yeah! I want to get more descriptive about plans, but I'll wait for tomorrow so I can add pictures.
*I spent the evening at Memae's house playing dominos with Memae, Ginette, Aunt Cathy, Mom, and Aunt Lulu. I had a really great time, and it sort of made me realize that I really would love to have my aunts, uncles, and cousins at my wedding. I won't get too mushy and sentimental or anything, but the more I think about it, the more special it would be to have them there with us. What can I say, I'm a flip-flopper.

That's pretty much why we decided to do ours in NC- so we could have the wedding we wanted, for less money, in a place where we felt comfortable. I definitely think you'll be happier this way.
i think it's a lovely and perfect choice (:
AND i can't wait!
