The Inn by the Sea has pretty good prices. It would be 140 dollars per person for a reception featuring a four course meal, a custom wedding cake, an hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour, tea and coffee, champagne, plus all the table settings and a slide-show presentation with pictures of Joe and I, and a two night stay for us in a suite. There is a 50 person minimum, which I'm sure we could find a way to meet.
For all of that, it would cost 7,000 dollars, which I didn't think was that bad.
BUT
There are taxes and gratuity that get added to that, and those taxes and gratuity end up being about 30%, bringing the total up to 9,100 dollars, which is too much for us since we'll also be having a party at Memaes house that we'll need to pay for.
When you bring the number of guests down to 40, it brings the total (including taxes and gratuity) to about 7,300 dollars instead, which is more doable.
But that total is for the package. Unfortunately the package has a strict minimum requirement of 50 guests and they won't budge on that, so if we bring it down to 40 people we'll have to have the wedding there a la carte style and just pick and choose which things we want. It would be more work, but we'd be saving money and I don't mind working hard to save me, Joe and our families some cash.
But we haven't looked at any places in depth yet, so who knows.
One of the things I like best about this place, though, is the food options. Mother of god, they have so many options and they all sound delicious. Here are a select few:
