So I've been emailing back and forth with the wedding coordinator at Inn by the Sea to try to get an estimate of what it would cost to have a 40 person wedding there in early or mid May. I would have liked to have the date be a little later than that so we'd have a better shot at getting a warm wedding day, but the prices for a reception go up a bit after May 15th, so I think if we DO chose this place, that will be the approximate date.
In addition to that, it looks like Inn by the Sea is totally in the right price range for us! At first the place was way too much, so I asked for the price to be adjusted after taking out the alcohol option that would give the guests free beer, wine, and champagne (sorry, guys!) and then also took out the two night stay in a suite for Joe and I. Just taking out those two things knocked the price down by like 2,000 dollars.
If we chose this inn, we get:
-A consultation with a wedding planner
-A tasting session to decide what dinner and cake we'd like to have at the reception
-A beautiful reception space with a garden and an ocean view
-Hors d'oeuvres hour with champagne toast
-LCD presentation with photos of Joe and I
-Coffee and tea
-Chocolate dipped strawberries
-All the furnishings for the reception (tables, place settings, etc.)
-A 3-course plated dinner (no buffet nonsense! The food will be served to us all fancy-like)
-A custom wedding cake
-A cash bar
It sounds pretty amazing to me. The only things we'd need to pay for would be flowers, my dress, Joe's tux, and the fancy lighting I want (japanese lanterns and string lights)
So yeah. Joe and I will be taking a day trip to cape elizabeth soon to check the place out in person and see if it's right for us. :)
