Finally! Some set plans!!

After a super duper long discussion with Joe, my mom, and Joe's parents, here is what we decided about the wedding.

We will be having a very, very small ceremony and reception. We're talking about 30 people maybe. Just parents, siblings, grandparents, and close friends. We'll most likely have the ceremony and reception at a small inn where all the guests can stay. A nice intimate ceremony, then we all move to another room and have a very fancy and amazing reception. It will be fabulously decorated with all sorts of my favorite flowers and white lights and candles. Richly colored table settings. A small, beautifully designed wedding cake. An amazing, delicious menu. A deck, patio, lawn, yard, garden, or other type of place outside of the inn where we can all go when we want to be out under the stars throughout the evening. If it's nice(and not buggy), I would consider having the dancing and/or dinner outside after the wedding. We can all stay up as late as we feel like, do a little dancing, then all retire to our respective bedrooms when we feel like it.

The next day (or maybe the day after that) there will be a GIGANTIC barbeque at memaes house. Every single family member, on my side and joe's side (as well as all of our friends) will be invited to celebrate my and Joe's marriage. It will be super casual, with as many barbeques as we can find, lots of good old fashioned picnic food. More merriment.

Joe and I decided this would be the best way for everyone to be happy. I can have the small, intimate, classy, gorgeous, quiet, amazing wedding of my dreams, but we will also have a party that includes absolutely everyone on both sides of the family in a setting I know everyone will enjoy. If there's one thing that Joe's family and my family have in common, it's a mutual love for burning animal flesh in the presence of loved ones.

Reasons why this is the greatest plan I have ever come up with:
1. I can have my dream wedding without going broke
2. I can have a giant barbeque party at memaes house without excluding people AND without going broke
3. It will be a lot less stressful to plan a small wedding and a casual barbeque than it would be to plan a big wedding
4. I have a lot more options when it comes to choosing a wedding/reception location
5. I can make all of the aesthetic choices for my wedding (flowers, table settings, lighting, etc.) without worrying about it costing thousands of dollars
6. Have I mentioned the fact that the wedding won't cost as much money this way?!

So that's the deal. I'm so, so, SO excited.

There's one other thing, though. Since there will not be too many people at the wedding, it seems a little excessive to have 6 bridesmaids and 6 groomdudes. We've decided to stick with two on my side and two on Joe's. Claire will walk down the isle with Evan, and Julie will walk down the isle with Joe Mucia. I hope none of my 4 other girlfriends will be too upset. You're totally all the wedding party of my soul, and will obviously be at the wedding, you just don't all have to buy purple dresses ;)
